"Oh it must be wonderful, being able to do computers...."

I've lost count how many times I've heard this phrase. "Ooh, it's so glamorous!", or "Wow, you must be SO clever!", or my own personal favorite, "I bet you make s**tloads of money doing that!"

Let me enlighten you.

I spent two and a half hours today taking two printers apart, and replacing the fuser roller gearing on one printer (which were missing some teeth) with those from the other. By the end of it, I looked more like a mechanic than a programmer - covered in oil, filthy from head to toe.

All just to save money.
